16th Seed’s TikTok Goes Viral Ahead of Potential Showdown with Caitlin Clark

Holy Cross is set to face UT Martin in the First Four matchup on Thursday night, with the victor moving on to challenge Iowa in the tournament’s initial round.

Holy Cross is gearing up for a First Four clash against UT Martin, scheduled for Thursday night. The victor of this matchup will move on to face Iowa in the tournament’s opening round.

Before the crucial First Four game, Janelle Allen, a forward for the Crusaders, shared a TikTok video filmed on the Carver-Hawkeye Arena court. The Holy Cross squad is clearly impressed by the Iowa City stadium’s ambiance.

In her caption, Allen humorously portrays the perspective of a 16th seed facing off against a top-ranked school, using lines from Tiffany Haddish’s role in “Nobody’s Fool” for added effect.

The potential matchup against Caitlin Clark’s powerhouse Hawkeyes has thrust Holy Cross into the spotlight. Iowa’s dominance at home, last losing to Kansas State on Nov. 16, sets the stage for an exciting showdown.

However, the Crusaders must first focus on overcoming the challenge presented by the Skyhawks in their upcoming game.

Holy Cross secured an NCAA tournament berth by clinching its second consecutive Patriot League championship. Despite their first-round loss to Maryland as a 15th seed in their last March Madness appearance 16 years ago, the team is poised for a strong performance this year.

Aside from the tournament excitement, Allen has a personal reason to appreciate the Iowa bracket. Her brother, Brian Allen, plays as a defensive end for the Hawkeyes, adding an extra layer of significance to the matchup.

Fans can catch the action as Holy Cross takes on UT Martin in the First Four game, airing at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 this Thursday. The winner will advance to face Iowa in a highly anticipated showdown on Saturday afternoon, broadcasted on ABC.
